Almacenamiento Térmico y Energía para Procesos Industriales
Transformar electricidad en calor industrial disponible cuando se necesita.
Muchas plantas de alimentos, bebidas, lácteos y procesamiento industrial dependen de vapor y calor durante gran parte de su operación. Una tecnología de almacenamiento térmico permite utilizar electricidad —incluyendo energía renovable o electricidad disponible en horarios más convenientes—, convertirla en calor y almacenarla para utilizarla posteriormente en el proceso industrial.
¿Cómo funciona?
La energía eléctrica se transforma en calor y se almacena en un medio sólido dentro de unidades térmicas altamente aisladas. Cuando la planta necesita energía, el calor almacenado puede entregarse en forma de vapor industrial, aire caliente, aceite térmico o calor de proceso a alta temperatura. La tecnología puede operar a temperaturas de hasta aproximadamente 650 °C.

Tecnología ya implementada a escala industrial
Existe una instalación comercial de 32 MWh de almacenamiento térmico destinada a suministrar vapor industrial en una planta de bebidas.
